Black Lives Matter (BLM) is a movement that advocates for the rights and equality of Black individuals. It was founded in 2013 in response to the acquittal of Trayvon Martin’s killer and has since gained international recognition.
The movement gained significant momentum in 2020 following the killings of several Black individuals, including George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery. These incidents sparked widespread protests against police brutality and systemic racism, with BLM at the forefront.
The protests drew attention to the issues of racial inequality, police violence, and the need for criminal justice reform. They also led to discussions about defunding the police, redirecting funds towards social services, and addressing systemic racism in various aspects of society.
The Black Lives Matter movement continues to advocate for change, raise awareness, and push for justice and equality for Black individuals in various ways, including protests, community organizing, and policy advocacy.
